Headline Heads Up — No. 14

One Tuesday every month, I’m going to round up a couple (maybe a few) awesome display typefaces to showcase and give a little breakdown on each one. If you have a suggestion you want me to take a look at, drop me a line. Let’s jump straight into some headline goodness.

Sheepman

Foundry : Hanoded
Designer(s) : David Kerkhoff
Cost: $15

Sheepman Typeface by Hanoded - Alphabet Example - Handwritten, Handwriting Type

Sheepman is a quick, slightly messy handwriting typeface with very fluid movements. It’s perfect if want to imitate a hastily written note. It also has versatility for more applications with an italic and bold weight also available to expand its range. A handful of alternates and ligatures also help keep the letters flowing and from feeling monotonous.

Chauncy Pro

Foundry : Chank
Designer(s) : Chank Diesel
Cost: $29 — $99

Chauncy Pro Typface by Chank Diesel - Alphabet Example - Childish Handwriting Font, Handwritten Type

Chauncy Pro is another handwritten typeface but with a more childish and playful look. Shapes are more rounded while strokes feel more deliberate and analyzed — like a child learning to write and trying his or her hardest to make them perfect. By ignoring the baseline, letters bounce from one to the next to create interesting compositions in a line. With tons of alternates and OpenType awesomeness — along with bold and italic styles — Chauncy Pro has a lot to offer any charming, kid-oriented design. It’s definitely better than Comic Sans.

I have a question. Looking at the above post it looks like the phrase “Scissors Chalk” is not Chauncy Pro. I love the type font of the S in “Scissors”. Am I crazy? If so, would you happen to know what font that is. Thank you!!

It’s all Chauncey Pro. The font has quite a few OpenType alternates. It looks like nine versions of the letter ‘S’ between upper and lowercase plus accented versions. It’s quite versatile.
