Wallpaper Wednesday – No. 15

On the first Wednesday of every month, I’m going to pull together some inspirations and resources I have around and make some sweet desktop wallpapers. It’s usually just going to be one or two at a time. They will be all over the place, from type related to whatever cool pattern I might be digging at the moment. As always, let me know what you like or if there is something you want to see.

Robin’s Egg Blue

I wanted something with a little spring in its step. Here in Alabama, one of the first signs of Spring is the robin with its colorful chest and identifiable eggs. I used those remarkable colors to put together this wallpaper with help from wood textures from Bittbox. I also wanted a phrase – kind of like “April showers bring May flowers.” – which I set in Anodyne.

Hard Drive Blueprint

For some reason this idea popped into my head the other day, and it actually worked out better than I thought. It took a bit of playing around in Photoshop to get the original full color scan to be the right color and have the right transparency and blending, but as you can see it worked out. With a little background and a little scruff for character, you have a nice, slightly technical-looking wallpaper that would look good on any IT expert or architectural computer screen.
